The history behind Stührling

The foundation of Stührling came from a simple conviction: beautifully designed timepieces should not be out of reach for everyday people. Over time, that conviction grew into a full watchmaking operation built around research, design, manufacturing discipline, and a mission to place an affordable luxury timepiece on the wrists of all-comers.

Chapter II

1999 — 2015

From obsession to opportunity

Henry Fisher’s fascination with horology began with his first watch and grew into a deeper realization: luxury watches were often priced far beyond the reach of working people. During a 1999 trip to Switzerland, he saw how heavily retail pricing had been inflated by celebrity sponsorships and marketing. In response, he set out to build a company rooted in affordability, where luxury-inspired watches were not reserved only for captains of industry. After fourteen months of research, Stührling inaugurated its own factory, sold 22,386 watches in its first year, and by 2015 was projected to ship more than one million timepieces.

Design & Prototype

Conception, innovation, and early development

Stührling crafts its watches with superior watchmaking grace merged with contemporary research and development. Its specialists infuse devotion and discipline into the evolution of each timepiece, with a focus not only on aesthetics and movements, but also on comfort and convenience. The development process runs from conception to completion, beginning with CNC-produced early samples and progressing to production-ready prototypes that are meticulously tested before final production.

Chapter IV

Manufacturing & Details

Built from materials, finishing, and discipline

Stührling manufactures its watches from high-grade raw materials, including surgical-grade stainless steel, sapphire crystal on more exceptional models, and genuine high-purity rose or yellow gold plating where applicable. Each watch undergoes multiple finishing processes including lapping, beveling, abrading, and polishing. Bracelets are individually beveled and polished, often with satin-brushed finishing. Produced in clean room facilities by experienced watchmakers, each product requires a minimum of six months from design creation to production, supported by quality-control procedures and meticulous attention to detail.

Stührling treats presentation as an essential part of the brand experience. Its watches are encased in a detailed package called “the prelude,” designed to spark excitement before the unveiling. After purchase, the service center supports customers through a repair department staffed by watchmakers with more than 65 years of collective experience, along with a spare parts center housing over 1.6 million individually distinct parts. The brand also offers a two-year warranty covering many wear-and-tear issues and unexpected defects.
